Hi,

just a quick question: In the wireless version of the Shimano Flightdeck computer 6501, are the STI shifters connected to the main unit through wires or is that part wireless as well? Thanks,

D.

I have this unit on my LS Blue Ridge. The wireless portion is only from the fork to the unit, there are wires from the shifters to the unit which you put under the tape. It is a nice unit, I really like how it shows the gear I'm in without having to look under me to see the rear gears.

Hope that helps.

DJ- Just like Mark said, there is a small wire that runs from the base unit to the modules that are installed in each shift/brake lever. This wire is covered by the handlebar tape. The wire is very small and should be nested right next to the brake cable under the tape. It is a clean and simple installation. The only place where you see the wires is where they come out from under the tape and go to the base unit. So we are only talking about 2 inches.
