Wow !!! I think our Cinderella training ride went out Mines Rd earlier in the day. Glad they caught the guys.
Couple of years ago some other riders were shot with a pellet gun on Niles Canyon westbound. Guys weren't caught, but the Fremont police were very serious about it.

There is part of a promo for CourtTV(now TruTV) where, a cyclist gets shot by a paint gun. It was from a story similar to the one mentioned in the blog. Four caucasian male teenagers were driving around late one evening shooting at people with a paint gun. They even videotaped it. Their own videotape, let to their arrest.

Awesome!

I was shot with a paintball gun while riding about 1.5 years back. Alas, I was unable to get a license plate or anything like that, so the police took my report, and offered to come take pictures of my wound, but they couldn't really do anything more than that. In their defence, they took it very seriously.

I still look for that car when I'm riding in the neighborhood. It's a long shot -- if I haven't seen it by now, I probably never will -- but hope springs eternal and all that.

(This was in Austin, TX -- in a pretty good part of town. Usually pretty nice for a midnight ride, but there's a few bad apples.)

Public caning is too good for them. That's what they'd get if this happened in Singapore. Remember a couple of years back an American kid was sentenced to caning for vandalizing someone's car?

I live in Singapore and if it had happened here, it'll be dismissed by the police as a civil case and the onus would be on the victim to press charges.

We also let our DUI drivers walk away after only 4 months of jail after killing cyclists.

If you had to maim or kill someone on the roads, Singapore would prolly be the best place to do it. Our police is surprisingly lax about road safety.

Well here we elect our drunk drivers to the US senate.
