I'm following Joe Friel's book this year and I just did my first set of "jump" intervals: 12 strokes per leg in a high gear, as hard as I could go, followed by 1 minute rest. 3 sets of 5 of these with 5 minutes' recovery in between. I understand that this kind of workout is designed to build power, but I never felt that satisfying soreness you get when lifting weights. I did find that I was unable to do good, hard pedal strokes all the way through for the last two reps in the final set (called my legs, but there was nobody home) so I assume I did something right.
I realize it may be difficult to tell, but does it sound like I did these correctly? Shouldn't my leg muscles feel wasted after this?
