Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - peogeot PHLE 1050

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Morning,
Had a response to a want ad for a "vintage" bicycle and wonder about where this falls in the Peugeot lineup. Person responding gave the following info. Sticker on bike says "PHLE 1050 4091210". It is a complete bike that the reponder used in a 120 mile ride last year. Understand that value is going to change depending on location of bike, but would like an idea of what this bike is worth so that I can make an offer on it. Responder thinks the bike is a 1984 model.

Without pictures, I don't think anyone is going to wade in. Basically, if it is clean (good paint, no rust, cromoly frame, alloy rims and alloy crank set), then it is worth about $175. Gas pipe frame is worth $100 to $120, gas pipe with steel rims is worth less than that.
Jim's the expert on these bikes, so I would follow his lead on value.

PHLE 1050 is a PH10LE model 50cm in size. The 4091210 number is the bikes sequetional serial number but not the number that tell the yera of production.
For the year of frame production you need the number stamped in the metal under the BB.
As wrk101 said upwards of $175 but it all depends on overall condition and location.
Thanks. That was kind of the ball park I was figuring that it would fall into.

Here is a picture of the bike in question. Going to go take a look at it Monday.

Thats a small bike. Make sure it fits.
1. Cheesy pedals.
2. Missing brake hoods.
3. Has some accessories.
4. Seat may not go down enough because of accessories on seatpost.

I wonder what the saddle looks like under that gel pad.

+1 Every time I find a bike with a gel pad, the seat is shot.
Are those wire ties or similar holding the rear brake cable to the top tube?
+1 Really small frame, probably a 19 inch. If it fits, great, as they are hard to find. A 19 inch frame is suited for someone around 5 - 4. If it is a 21 inch frame, good to around 5 - 9 or so (ball park!!).
Stem looks like it is extended too high (there is a minimum insert mark on it).
Given condition, bike is closer to the $100 mark than the $175 mark. If you get it for $100, you will have a nice bike once you clean it up a bit!
