Fifty Plus (50+) - Where I once lurked I now belong…

I turned 50 on March 1st; boy the years sure do pass on by quickly. My wife give me a surprise party and it was amazing to see how many people came from so far for just one day; I guess I’m doing something right by treating people the way I want to be treated.

I went out and purchased a Specialized HardRock mountain bike to keep my Specialized Tarmac company when I’m not riding either; but I think the mountain bike will be seeing me a lot more these days since I plan to use it as a commuter bike. I just hate seeing my beautiful Tarmac hit all those potholes.

Well, I just wanted to give a shout out to all the 50+ folks and say that I feel I’m in good company here and look forward to many years of learning and sharing thoughts about cycling and life.

PS is the over 50 cycling jersey still available? I know I'd wear one with pride.:thumb:

Well, I'm actually a transplanted New Yorker, but I've been in Atlanta for so long that I've developed a taste for warm peach cobbler and cold vanilla ice cream hhhhmmm; I still won't give up my New York Cheesecake though.

Thanks everyone the warm welcome. I truly feel blessed to have made it here in good health, in great spirits and with a love of life for the days to come.

Honestly though, life can’t get much better than to turn 50 and have cycling as one of your main passions; it just doesn’t get any better than that. My grandfather biked into his 80’s so we all have a hell of a lot of miles ahead of us. I say enjoy the journey but don’t forget to smell the roses along that way; that’s gonna’ be my motto-I think my grandfather would approve.

Welcome. I spent a summer working in Atlanta years ago, brought my bike, and enjoyed exploring the area on my bike. Lots of hills; a lot of fun.

I only recently learned that in addition to "Hot-Lanta" you guys also now refer to your home as "The ATL." I am so out of it.

welcome to the club. My Trek 800, great deal at a garage sale, keeps my road bike company. More often than not it only has that duty when the Giant Revive is off having coffee with me. But most times the Revive keeps the Trek company. However as the weather gets better I might hit the dirt a few more times.
