Foo - So, who's drinking green beer tomorrow?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Damn, had I been thinking, I'd have used tomorrow as an excuse to make the trip out to BevMo for some Irish whiskey. :P

Too drunk, too loud, too green. I might have a nip of Powers at home or with a friend.
.
I really like Ireland since going there last Nov.

I will be celebrating but without alcohol. In the EU the Irish are really at the low end of per capita consumption of alcohol. Germans and French trade 1st and 2nd back and forth. Ahead of the Irish are the Italians, Belgians, Spaniards, Czechs, etc........

The Irish are #1 in the EU in total number of calories consumed per day. You guessed it. The Irish like to eat, not drink. Sorry gang! Don't believe the propaganda! We are basically a sober and well educated people with wicked humor skills!

Corned beef is generally not consumed in Ireland. It is an American custom picked up by Irish Immigrants from their Jewish Neighbors. The consumption of corned beef did not become popular until the early 20th century as an inexpensive substitute for bacon. Sorry to burst your bubble again gang!

The national symbol of Ireland is not the Shamrock. The harp is the national symbol of Ireland.

St. Patrick was not Irish he came from England.

Please don't drink green beer. If you must drink have a Guinness or a Smithwicks. Jamiesons if you must. Please though, no green beer!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I'll be going to services and watching the Parade! I will be going to the 2nd largest St. Patrick's Day parade in the country this Sunday! All the best!

Not me. I'm taking advantage of a 70+ F day in Iowa in March. My legs are toast from the last two days, but I don't care. Wednesday is supposed to be rainy and I don't particularly care for riding in the rain. That said, maybe i'll find a green beer later that night...unlikely though.

Touch me brew with the food dye and I bite, but then most of the stuff I drink - you couldn't tell if it had green in it or not. :)

Last night I experimentally verified that food coloring can make a passable green color in beer as dark as a pale ale or lighter. 2 drops seems to be about right.

Tonight I will be generously sharing the results of my research with friends.

St. Paddy's = Amateur night ;)

Fun to watch the college kids get wasted, fall down, puke, etc.

I refuse to add food coloring into a beer/ale.

I will drink Harp or Guinness, and get a plate of bangers and mash, but I don't like adding anything to my booze.

I've got plenty of Guinness in the fridge, plus some Bass in case I decide to go the Black and Tan route. Good beer doesn't need food coloring.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night - we do a monthly event hosted by green organizations - we should have organic beer specials all night.:thumb:
