Does anyone have multiple braking postion on their mountain bike.
I was refering to a picture I saw once in a magazine where a pro rider had brake extenders bolted to his brake levers, which was used for the bar ends.

I think they were made by Mounty. I've never used them myself but have seen them. They are difficult to set up correctly in many cases because unless you have just the proper combination of angles for the barends with respect to the brake levers, you can have reach and throw issues. I also know they would never really work for me because I have smaller hands than what those have been designed for. BTW, Shimano also has remote shifter units that will supplement the normal RapidFire shifters and allow you to shift from the bar-ends.

that last pic....those are SOO weird! it would be kind of handy if you like the horns on the handle bars though...

Maybe... maybe not. I've heard they're finicky and one fall basically wipes them out as well as screws up your shifting because they work "inline" with your normal shifters. They are pretty cheap though. you can get a pair for $15 but be prepared for some emergency trailside repairs or have some contingency plan worked out to handle shifting after you've dumped the bike once. Also, even when perfectly setup, you do lose some smoothness in shifting.
