Has anyone had any experiences with the Beckman rear rack?

I just sent him an email, and he said I'm looking at 250$ starting price for a rear rack. Ouch. He also said it's about 3 months from ordering one to shipping it.

He also said that what's on the internet http://www.coinet.com/~beckman/racksside.html
is several years old and not acurate.

I haven't found a nicer looking rack, but for the kind of money he's talking about I couldn't imagine buying one. But I still want one badly. We'll see...

From a few comments I heard about people buying Robert Beckman's bicycles or equipment, I'm afraid he is too busy to react quickly.

I would suggest two other alternatives:

- Bruce Gordon rack. Custom made by Bruce Gordon, at http://www.bgcycles.com/racks.html
They have the reputation of being the strongest and most stable racks available (well, Beckman's might be a bit more stable but that would be the only ones). I think you would get it in 7-10 days, but don't quote me on this. $149 U.S.

- Tubus Racks. The Tubus Cargo is the strongest commercial rear rack that I'm aware of, except for the equally strong Burley Moose Rack (the one that comes with the Piccolo trailercycle). It's available in a few places including Peter White Cycles: http://peterwhitecycles.com/tubus_racks.asp : $100 U.S.
