This isn't really a question, just sharing choices with my virtual friends.

One of the many good things about living where I live at the moment is proximity to adventures - for example, Mrs Delightful and I are just back from skiing in Lebanon over the weekend. And in mid April we have another trip planned over a week. Number 1 boy child will be joining us - fit and strong Geology student, who spends his weekends with a military "Officers Training Corps" having fit and strong adventures in the mountains, who doesn't accept that I'm supposed to the the fit guy in the family!!!

So, we're going to Kathmandu. (You music fellows can all join in now with some discordant Bob Seegar. Good, I'm glad that's all out of the way).

One of the things we'll do there is some mountain biking. We have a choice between 'ride yourself somewhere high and then bounce down' or 'get jeeped up and then bounce down'

I favour choice former. Everyone else favours choice secondary - 'It's supposed to be a holiday'!!

Both will be great. I'll follow up with pictures from whichever choice we make

I did something like that on my trip to Alaska a couple of years ago. We rode a narrow-gauge railway up the hill and rode bikes back down. There was one very short, very shallow climb that they felt obligated to mention in the brochures. When we actually got to that part, I actually laughed.

The hardest part was reigning it in and not blowing past the guide. Downhill for miles and miles! Woot!

We're going to North Dakota for a family reunion this summer. My plan is to ride my 'bent the last 30 miles or so each day while my wife drives ahead to the motel. As luck would have it, the first day I'll be going from Lolo Pass down into Missoula (2000 ft drop over 30 miles)--should be a pleasant, scenic ride.

Ride up. Slow and steady and quiet. You will see a lot more. Stop for rests and enjoy the scenery. It sounds like a fabulous climb.
A jeep ride up will be noisy and bumpy and possibly dangerous, depending on who is driving.
And yes, the ride up will make the downhill even sweeter.

Take it this will be on "Hired" bikes. Wonder if they will be true "Downhill" type bikes or ones that look the part to the Punters (Not calling you a Punter.)

Whichever way it is- Climbing is fun and will take the "Worry" out of a fast downhill on a Bucking Bike. Sounds better than just doing a downhill though.

Whichever ride you are forced into- Enjoy it---And don't forget the pics of the falls.
