Foo - I just gota brag

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just gota brag to someone. My kids are embarrassed when I start telling the store clerks and toll both attendants, so I’ll brag to this forum.
My first born daughter, Lacy Angela, will graduate from Penn State University tomorrow (5/15/04). She now has a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and Technology, and she is on the dean's list!
I AM SO PROUD! ! !
Considering that I flunked first grade and never got good marks in school, I’m suppressed. But what really gives me a thrill is that Lacy’s father is also self taught programmer who got her started on computers at a young age.
I hope I don’t cry too much and further embarrass my younger daughter.

Congrats MikeR, I have an idea of what your feeling. My oldest started her first year at Elon last fall. High honors, Dean's list, chosen for dorm mentor for next year... all the good stuff.
Me, C- average throughout school, trouble always found me no matter where I hid. Her graduation is going to be splendorific!
Congrats to all of you!!!
PS - What part of Central PA? I grew up in the Altoona - Bedford area.

Cry all you want, you deserve it.
One thing I have learned is that the level of education the parent has (or has not) obtained does not correlate with educational success for the children. You have obviously instilled in Lacy a desire to learn and a love for a particular type of knowledge. Congrats to both of you.

Dan & I did a fair job of beating ourselves up for being "bad parents" everytime we couldn't get our kids to take school seriously, or they got into trouble, but now that they are 28 and 30 and have turned out to be fine human beings we can finally say, "We must have done something right." Congratulations, it sounds like you did a lot right, and have every reason to be proud. Enjoy the day to the fullest.

KoffeeThanks Koffee and everyone for the pats on the back.
It was a GREAT day. I really emptied out my eyeballs! After the commencement we had dinner at Lacy’s favorite restraint with Lacy’s boyfriend and her childhood girl friend who graduated too. I gave the first toast of my life and since I get teased about being long winded I was a little nervous. I paraphrased two people who had a large influence on my thinking – Henry David Thoreau and John Lennon.
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life that you imagined. But remember, life is what happens to you while you were busy making other plans. So Live each season as it passes. Breath the air. Drink the drink. Taste the fruits. Smell the flowers. Create beautiful memories in your lives, like the memories we are creating today. May all your memories be a sweet as the ones you have given me.”
I’ll remember that day as a high point of my life.
