Classic & Vintage - Help removing paint on Brooks saddle

Hey guys,

I own a black B17 and it has gotten some painted stained on it :(. I keep my bike inside the house and unfortunately it was tipped over and the saddle scrapped against the edge of my white wall. Now there is a white line of paint and a few smudges on the saddle. Anyone have any tips on removing the paint without ruining the saddle?

I'd try moistening the paint, and then gently working with my fingernail - or maybe try the fingernail first. If it's not a complete layer of paint, I'd try gently rubbing with a damp paper towel.

Goof Off works great on house paint, but I don't know if it will remove the color from your saddle. Try plain water and maybe a little dish soap first.

Although I would never try using chemical paint stripper on a brooks, the can that I have sitting outside says it is safe to use on leather.

I wouldn't risk ruining the saddle. I'd just ride it and it should wear off.

If I used Goof Off, I'd start by applying it with a Q-Tip only on the paint and be prepared for immediate removal with a cloth I had pretreated with Proofide. Goof Off can work very fast and it does not take much to get the job done. Best of luck.

Now this is a wierd coincidence. I was putting away my bike and rollers this morning when I accidentally tipped over my bike and my Brooks hit the corner of the wall. It left an inch long shallow indention towards the tip with a very visible white mark from the paint. I cleaned it up though and it worked like a charm. All I did was give it one squirt of my wife's perfume and wipe it away. I did follow it up with a small bit of cooking olive oil just in case the area was in danger of drying up.

The indention is still there but without the white paint it is not noticeable.

I tried olive oil let it sit for 10-15 minutes and thentried scraping away the paint. Worked fairly well, but I can still see a few specs of white. Using my nail did the trip, but the paint was set in enough that I scrapped the seat a tiny bit.
