No. My cell phone turns on, turns off, can make calls, can receive calls. Beyond that I have no clue what I'm doing. I don't think I have a texting plan. I wouldn't know what to text to anyone even if I did. :o

Nope. Don't have a cell phone.

Yes I text/email/talk on my phone. About 2000 texts a month and a couple hundred emails. My phones on a business plan with 15 other phones and I think we share like 12000 minutes or something like that.

This side of the pond, texting is, or at least used to be, a lot more common than actually making calls.

I pay the equivalent of about 3 US cents per text message. Calling (domestically) incurs a connection fee of 9 c, then 5 c for per minute (in 1-minute steps).

I think I'll typically send 2-5 text messages a week.

I do text messaging via email, since I only communicate that way with one person. I block regular text messages for everyone else, so that the only people that can text me are those that REALLY know me.

I do my best to avoid using text messaging.

Very rarely. I only send texts to my daughter, and that's when I know she's at work or in class so can't answer her phone.

Never did until a few years ago when my girlfriend (now wife) got me in to it. We don't text constantly or anything, but it is quite handy. It's less obtrusive than a phone call and a great way to get a quick message over to the other, like "Can you get coffee on the way home. Thx.".

It's always the women that make text messaging a necessity.

Tried once. Couldn't get the words I wanted to type right. Got frustrated and threw the phone. Never again.

That's why I insist on a full keyboard phone. Although it seems the fancier phones are lower in quality....I haven't had one yet (of about 4 or 5) that hasn't given me issues within a year or so.

No. I use e-mail and phone calls.

I don't know about you, but all I want from my cell phone is a phone and address book.

If I didn't have a Crackberry, I would probably not text at all. Texting on a conventional phone is a pain in the *****.

Why I said I get full qwerty keyboard phones. I don't need all the "smart phone" capability...I just want a keyboard. I refuse to do the 3-letters to a number texting. If I ever get that type of phone again, I'll stop texting.

I email my wife's phone very occasionally, if that counts. My servers email my phone all of the time. But very rarely do I text with the phone.

I traded phone numbers with this girl one time, meaning to call her in a couple of days when I wasn't like, legitimately busy.

The next day, in the middle of the day, she sends me a text message that says "Do u txt?"

I replied with "Not during business hours" and deleted her number from my phone book dealie.

I've had a long history of techy behaviour. Had a commodore 64 back in 1983 and tricked it out. Even ran a BBS in 1985, blazing at 300bps (upgraded to 1200bps in 87). Manipulated BBS networks throughout the US and did early versions of email then. Kept up with technology into the 90s (registered date at Ebay is 1995).

Even though I do computer support and web design, I've stalled out in technology-following around 1998. This includes cell phones (though I did have a hacked Sprint cell phone that was used 99% of the time for data transmission to the laptop - ie internet connection) and texting.

I've never texted (zero. ZIP.) and don't expect to until the kids get their own phones. I'm really suprised that 35% of the answers don't text either. I was expecting to be in the 10% or less group.

Only with my sister.
As much as she travels it is easier to communicate with her through texting.
