I think it's just to highlight the animation. I mean, really, you know what a slug will look like after being on an ice field for a few minutes?

I didn't see the daisy as wounded. I thought it was doing a "she loves me, she loves me not" sort of thing.

The slug is completely passive - looking at the television, looking out the porthole of the submarine - being taken around places by others and then ending up in front of the television. Note the slug does have one sort-of adventure, but goes right back to doing nothing - as slugs do.

Dang. I'd better go back downstairs and work on my bike some before I waste the whole night here again. :o

The slug having to be carried around by other represents humanity's basic inability to fight it's way out of a paper sack unless we learn to respect others and not try to kill off nature.
The daisy's petals falling off shows us how the world's time clock is ticking unless we get out from the front of our tv sets and start doing something about....
