I've been searching (for the most part fruitlessly) for bike routes out of philadelphia either west or south. I realize i may just need a map and some courage but i was hoping to maybe find some tips on trails that bikers before me have taken (i know you're out there)- but alas, i can't even find a Philly to jersey shore trail- let alone one with tips on travellin to Tennessee. Maybe someone knows where i can purchase some hard literature on this, since the interweb isn't helping too much.

At this point any tips are sage advice.
thanks

Adventure Cycling makes touring maps for all over the US, maybe they have some in that area?

Have you checked www.mapmyride.com ? There's a lot of good maps (out here, anyway) that other users have submitted.

My favorite urban maps are the AAA Metropolitan maps. I think the scale is small enough to show good secondary and back roads, yet cover a wide area, out into the exurbs.
