View Full Version : Were you the class clown?

Foo seems to me to be mostly made up of the "class clown" types....I think its what "Foo" is all about.

Would you say you were the "class clown" or at least in the top 5 in your high school class?

We didn't have an official voted class clown, but we did have "most spirited" which was probably a close equivalent. It was down between me and another guy (who was part of the cool kids clique). He ended up winning and I came in a close 2nd. He later came to me personally and apologized because I should have won....he said he knew he just won because of popularity. That was nice of him.

I was definitely our class clown. How about you?

I was voted "most likely to be seen sleeping during class"
I have always been a minimalist, even when it comes to effort... (graduated in the top 10% though.)

I wasn't a class clown- not shy, just quiet- but really only out of my shell around my good friends.

My school didn't do the "most likely to..." thing, but had they, I'd have probably been a contender for "most likely to be completely forgotten five minutes after graduation." No class clown here.

I think many schools didn't do that......that's why I mean "in your estimation" did you think you were the class clown.

I was Class Clown 1983 at JFK Middle School in Eastlake, Ohio. Mighty proud of it. I was voted in by a landslide. 97%.

But yeah. I was always getting in trouble in class. I even got kicked out of Sunday school. :notamused:

Class Clown? Nope!

I was the class punching bag. Well, up until the day that I decided I'd had enough!

Yes...but only because I had a reputation and everyone was afraid I'd beat them up if they didn't laugh.

Actually, I was pretty quiet in school...didn't really get a sharp tongue until I went into the Marines....where it is a survival skill. ;)

I was the quiet kid who sat in the middle of the class to avoid being called on. You know... the type voted most likely to go postal. It's always the quiet ones that loose it.

I was actually voted most likely to succeed. I was your prototypical nerd-athlete. 12 varsity letters and 1st board on the chess team. Look where that got me. :o

Not me. I was always the one who couldn't control my laughter and ended up incessantly giggling at the class clown. Because of that I often got into more trouble than the clown actually did. He had this way of quickly disguising his actions so that the rest of us took the rap for him. I did get a letter sent home one day for wearing a skirt that was too short....more than 1" above the knee.

when I was about 25 a woman from my HS started working at my job - we had never really spoken or anything in school, but we had a good laugh talking about the old school over drinks at happy hour together.

She was one of the brainy valedictorian types. She told me a whole bunch of dirt on people in her clique and also other cliques, all of which I had no clue about (kids found going at it in the school closets, etc.)...quite an eye opener for me.

The best was when she asked me how I could have possibly missed out on all the rumors and gossip and I told her I basically showed up for school in body only. (I was a straight C clock watcher nonentity and one of the few guys there with long hair....all my friends were either older, younger or at other schools). But she made my day when she said everyone she talked to when my name came up was "very" afraid of me.

Mind you, coming from her poindexter crowd that doesn't mean much, and the irony is I am the biggest pansy on earth and always have been....but it still made me smile.

I was class clown in middle school.... i had detention at least once a week. But I wisened up by the time I got to HS.... In HS I was the guy who knew where the parties were...... and I was known as a trouble maker..... and a comedian..... I'm sure I was known for other things but to tell you the truth, I don't remember HS too much.

I was a quiet kid that was only loud around friends. My brother (yr younger) was a total class clown, so much so that half way through high school I became known as "Patrick's brother". That'll kill your spirits.

I did lose prom king by a vote. I'm proud of that.

lord, no! she was actually very cute, but, even after all those years ..... she was still a poindexter:lol:

and married.

There was one other girl who hung with the nerds and I only vaguely became aware of her towards the end of high school - and she was absolutely drop dead gorgeous:love:. Couldn't quite figure that one out......I wandered into that crowd at some point during some event or another (I knew one guy who was a musician) and wanted to/felt pretty sure I could have whisked her away from the gang...that story could have had a good story to relate here:(.....but by then I was dating someone.

Where is she now, I wonder? Mrs. Poindexter, maybe?

I'm glad you wrote that - this used to happen to me too, I wonder how many others...

I once got detention because this really ancient senile biology teacher was walking up a classroom aisle towards the blackboard...as he passed the front seat, the class clown (a pint sized guy, btw, who went on to clown school and later marry his pixie gf and they actually joined Ringling Bros. as a clown and a poodle trainer:lol:) swiftly popped out of his seat, faced the class, grabbed his neck with both hands and pulled as if he was going to rip his own head off, screaming out at the top of his lungs "I can't take this $#@&ing guy anymore!!!!!", and then slipping back into his seat. All while the teacher's back was turned.

The teacher turned back around just in time to see everyone else in the class in drop jawed shock and me doubled over in laughter.

Hey, I am willing to venture out in lycra which is brave enough for this gal! :D That school policy was pretty strict. My skirt was an inch too short and you'd have thought I had committed the crime of the century! :p

Hardly! I probably weighed between 10-15 or more lbs than I do now - and in High School with eensy weensy cheerleaders - it made for a very uncomfortable bullying, teasing atmosphere. Yep, lots of tears shed in those 7th-10th grade years.

I was a doormouse! Totally Shy and DID NOT WANT TO BE NOTICED.

Until my Junior year ... and I rather discovered my voice, sort of anyway. Kinda hung with the bad girls I guess.

The ME now is an accumulation of all sorts of good times, bad times and 100% perseverance ... with a sense of humor (I hope).

I was the class nobody. I doubt that more than 20 people out of a class of 400 or so even remembered I was there a year after graduating. I quietly showed up, quietly made my 3 point something grade average and quietly went home each day.

I was in the top 5 of class clowns I'd guess. Also one of the small group of "long haired freaky people".
I always thought it kind of interesting that whenever there was trouble at school, or the administration
thought something was going on I'd get called down to the office and grilled.

then admin figured out too many students would be out of class and they eventually lifted the

When I was student teaching at a primary school in the early 90s I spent a few minutes looking at a long hallway of class photos going back to the late 1950s...funny to see the dress code rapidly change right around 1970 or so.
