It's done!!! After a few weeks of waiting for parts to come in, checking to see what I have, running through lists to make sure I don't need anything else, it's finally finished! I now have a bike that I don't mind getting wet (like for Saturday's ride).

It's a PedalForce RS frame with PF fork. Headset is FSA. Components are 8sp Campy Mirage (13/26 cassette, 39/53 up front), except for a Centaur BB, and Chorus brakes. Wheels are Open Pro's built on Chorus hubs. Seat needs to go when I have some more money. Stem is 75mm Specialized. Bars are Salsa Poco short reach. Seatpost is generic.

Most of those parts I scavenged off another bike that I had here, or were leftovers from other projects. Bars, stem, BB, and Headset are new, along with cables, housing and chain. I probably should remove one link from the chain. This was my first go at getting the length right, last time I had the shop do that.

All told, about $650 out of pocket.

Anyway, here it is:

Excellent! That's a nice rain bike but does it fit fenders?

I have a clip on the seat post fender. Actually, it's on the bike now.

My other bike is a steel Colnago. I am paranoid about rust so won't ride it if there's any wet out at all.

Yup. And it'll be cool. I think I'm going to shorten the ride this weekend and do one I call "5 hills". Interested?

We're mountain biking this weekend. Riding with FATRAC Saturday and doing something else Sunday - either Auburn or Salmon Falls. My friends are worried about Poison Oak so they are wimping out

you should get some full fenders. P-clips and some creativity is all you need.

If full fenders won't fit (there's no chance in hell on my Cinelli), Raceblades are pretty swell. I think there's even a CF or CF-esque model out there for great matchiness. :)

That's a pretty swell bike for $650, Joel. Nice work!

I got the skinny SKS full fenders to fit on my CAAD4. Very tight fit, but they fit with no rubbing.

They even fit under the brakes without messing with their functioning.

Nice rain bike and certainly nicer than my Supergo Aluminium Mountain Bike frame behmoth. I do more miles per year on my rain bike than any other bike as it is a commute bike too. It even lives outdoors just to show how hard it is. It has nearly 12,000 miles on the clock. Fenders make riding in the rain so much more pleasurable.

Rain bikes save your expensive drivetrain and rims from horrible abuse and no one cares if they are heavy and wear dorky fenders.

Really nice buildup Joel. Sounds like you are living in the hills. Which 5 are you going to do? I have 8 on tap for tomorrow.VG

Iron Point, Beatty, Wilson, and both Serrano's. The up to Bass Lake to Green Valley and back. Wish I could go tomorrow, but I'm on child care.

The interesting thing is that the saddle/bar drop and the reach are both exactly the same between my two bikes. That is very good.

Nice rain bike!

I don't have a rain bike. But carbon fiber doesn't rust. As I dislike riding in the rain the Diva doesn't get wet much.

I hope you get to test it this weekend. I look forward to the ride report.

Built it just in time, probably the last rain of the year this weekend...

Nice looking ride.
