Foo - Anticipation + patience = just rewards

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Now since y'all didn't say too much of what YOUR anticipation was, tell me about your patience and just rewards. :thumb:

I'm confused. I thought the others in the yard wanted the rooster to stay in. :o :twitchy:

Well, I've had tremendous good fortune in acquiring some really nice bicycles (with considerable help from some others here at BikeForums I might add). Some things I had to wait a bit for, but they've all arrived.

I know, I know - pictures are needed, but that's where your patience will lead to a reward. I'm working on dressing Victor tonight, and Crayola will be getting attention on the weekend once he gets faced, chased and headsetted.

I don't know that there's any anticipation involved, but...

I've been using the same pair of unpadded Cannondale gloves for about five years now. They finally started falling apart a year or so ago, so I started looking for another. Problem being, almost all gloves have thick gel padding in them now. Distraught at not being able to find much, and even less that I liked, I was almost ready to drop $140 or something on some leather Rapha gloves.

Then tonight, I'm in REI replenishing my stock of tubes and picking up a new set of tires for one of my bikes when I walk by the glove aisle. I idly pick up a few, gel, gel, gel... What's this? "Giro Zero"? Promising name, but can it be? It is! Unpadded gloves! I throw a pair of the XL size in my basket and skip merrily to the checkout counter.

those look nice x. I'm just happy it's just about time to put away the full fingered shackles.....rode today with no gloves; it was a little cold but felt great to shed the wintry stuff a bit.

Yeah, I rode with the full-fingers yesterday. It wasn't a few miles before I was riding bare-handed with the gloves in my pocket. And I hate riding without gloves.

I'm the other way. I hate riding with gloves.

Hey, ride that new bike out here tomorrow and join me for a short jaunt in the morning. Or do it on Saturday and we'll get in some hills.

Here's the result of my patience and anticipation, I built it up today:

I def. normally want gloves too but my commute is only 7 miles and the beater has tons of cushiony tape and whatnot so it was ok for one day. I'm trying to get to the weekend, so i can dig my warm weather stuff out of storage.

I'm still waiting for my LBS to find a tire that fits my unicycle though. That's already taken 2 months.

Guess it's earning me some bike karma though. :o

Now that is an unusual frame.

Hmm. How short and from/to where?

Tomorrow, somewhere between 18 and 26 miles. Just some time on the ARBT heading toward Folsom. Just looking to test out the new build before Saturday's ride.

Saturday is about 55 miles and 3500 to 4000 feet. Up and around EDH and Folsom and back to home.

The back story on this is.....

Well ya know how fleas can bother you and they really have no purpose?

Well, we are now de-flea'd. But we didn't need any flea meds. The flea thought there was better blood elsewhere. Trust me, the dogs are having a party!!

Yup, Ive mentioned that its temporary, just looking for a carbon fork with a longer steering tube than the one Fender1 gave me, its a sick fork, just to short. :( (one inch threaded with a 9 inch steerer tube is what it needs)

Shopped on-line for recent 18 months for my dream bike (used, not blue, no appendages) at a price (steal price) I could afford. Finally found it and was first caller and closed the deal a month ago. Paid in full the same day, seller dropped off at LBS for packing but told them "don't take it apart" vs me tellling them to take it apart to shrink box. Paid $150 for packing (two boxes, world's longest bike (http://www.longbikes.com/SiteII/Bikes/Slipstream/SlipstreamMoreInfo.html), extra seat, etc. no real problem with $150), but it's 10 inches over the UPS limit. LBS agrees on the phone to repack by removing rear wheel and shrink the box, but about that time the weather turned and LBS has been too busy since. Its still 2300 miles away. Being patient.
