Does anyone have experience with a Santa Cruz Roadster Frame (or bike)? I've heard good things and it's a nice ride. The only thing is, I guess not too many own them. I've owned a Santa Cruz bike in the past for DH'ing and I also ride their snowboards so I know they make quality products.

I did a search and didn't come up with much...

They are good bikes. The Roadster is just a victim of a crowded marketplace and very little marketing.

You are right. Very very little marketing. I see them nowhere. It seems like the market is crowded with the typical Trek's, etc... I like having things that aren't on every block. That's why I ride a Brooklyn Machine Works for my park bike. It's indestructable and not too many own one.

Also, I was in a bike shop the other day and they were trying desperately to sway me away from the Cervelo Soloist (rather have that than a giant). ALL of the reps seemed to not recommend it. For the price, it wasn't a bad deal but they were really pushing the specialized and giants. They were also not recommending the cannondale's either. I began to think that they didn't care what I got but only to what manufacturer gives them a better kickback.

That's what alot of them do.

The 10 minutes I spent searching the net led me to 3 places that sell the '03 Roadster, but only as a frameset. Which may explain why you don't see too many. One was in the UK. At $1000, it sure looks nice.

Same thing I did when I sold cars as a kid... I thought bike shops were supposed to actually give a ****

Well I decided on either a Santa Cruz Roadster frame or a Cervelo Soloist. I like them both. It's just a matter of finding a good used one (or a new leftover).

If I only get a frame, performance has 20% off of everything until June 1st so that will save me on getting build parts...

If anybody has any info on how to obtain either frame (or bike), please let me know... ;)
