My rims on a Fuji Club-Le have a line in the middle of the rim where the brake pads make contact.

My question is this, is this a wear line and at what point should I look to replace them? Is this like a car tire and Lincoln's hair on a penny (when you see the hair when placed in the tread, it is time for new tires), or can I wait until the line is gone? The rims currently on it are Alexrims DA22 and are the originals from when I purchased the bike.

I've tried the search feature, as I am sure this isn't the first time this question was asked, but that returned results I wasn't looking for.

Advice is greatly appreciated! :)

Thank you in advance.

As you suspect, the line is a wear indicator. You can use the rim until the line disappears.

If you wait too much longer you'll eventually start blowing tires off of your rim. That tends to happen during a turn on the base of a long downhill rather than while the bike is safely parked in your garage.

Thank you. :)

I am not worried yet, as I still have some "meat" on them. I've never had a bike this long and was starting to wonder when things like that should be replaced.
