Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just thinking about getting or building one just for a different ride occasionally. Might be good cross training.

There has been much discussion of trikes on the recumbent forum. There is a lot of info on recumbent trikes at http://www.bentrideronline.com/.
I tried one last year and thought it was a great ride. It had a some 36 gears. It remined me of the "Green Machine" bikes that my kids had 25 years ago. At 3,500-5,000, the great ones were too expensive for my tastes. Also, I didn't have storage area or a way to transport it on my car.

Trikes have a fatal flaw that can't fixed: you're at the mercy of the road/pathway pitch.

I tried one out- they really feel nice and the stress you DON'T feel the stress on the back of your neck anymore. Your head is always held up so you don't lose your horizon while riding. I really did like it. I will probably invest in a trike when I finally do have my own place (instead of renting an apartment like I do now).
