General Cycling Discussion - Sweat Gets In Your Eyes.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
OK I guess Winter is over. I had a good dose of sweat rolling into my eyes and loosening up my eyeglasses the other day. Anyone have a tip for keeping the sweat out of my eyes without having to wipe it with a glove every 5 minutes?
How about eyeglasses. What do you use to keep them in the right position when your face is slippery?
I picked up one of these from REI for 12-13 bucks and it works great. I liked it so much I went back and got another one. There is a rubber strip built into it the headband that channels the sweat to run down buy your temples. Here is a link.

That looks like a good option. I purchased a "head sweat" cool max skull cap and - while it did its job - it felt like it was pulling the hair from my head with any small movement of my helmet! Ouch... :(
The only bad thing I have noticed with it is a line across your forehead when you take it off. But then again who cares because you have hemet hair anyways and you can always put a hat on. I got one of those skull caps but it was to hot. I really didn't care for it except in cool weather.
Get a skull cap or sweat band. You can also try one of those strings that tie to your glasses that you can tighten up so the frame sticks onto your face and sweat runs around it.

you can p/u sweat bands for under $5 or any old bandana will do. Most LBS seem to have bandans or saweat bands on sale all the time. Or you can check out any sporting goods store, Target, ETC

I bought a bike style Coolmax hat..They can be pulled pretty low on the forehead while riding. Seems to work.. Get off the bike no helmet hair. Like that better than tradition sweatbands..They get saturated.
But I think the bigger problem is fogging..

On my tour in hot and humid Thailand I found that a bandana worked perfect. I'd just wring it out during the breaks I took and wipe down the nose to get a bit of traction back and all was fine.
Sweat bands of fluffed up terry cloth are $2-4ea usually in the tennis area of
the big sports stores. When temps get above 90F and humidity above 80%
they fill up fast (20miles or so) and have to be wrung out or exchanged. I carry 2-3 and let them dry stretched around the under seat bag while riding. Steve

Get a bandana Pantani style! I actually use it to prevent sweat dripping down my face and washing off my sunscreen. It also helps keep sweat out of my eyes (which is good because the combination of sunscreen and sweat really stings).

I have a HeadSweats skull cap and have never had this happen to me. Of course, being folacally (sp?) challenged sometimes has its advantages. ;)

For fogging, you can get a special type of eyeglass polish that is madde to avoid this. I forogt the name of the stuff, but it was packaged in a clear mini-jar and was a light green colored waxy substance. Basically you rubbed it on until you couldnt see green anymore and it was optically clear. It's usually sold in places that have rather harsh winters.
I use these...

I have lots of it. I have an ShimanoXTR(grey+black), ONCE(yellow), Giro(blue), Specialized(red), USPS(blue-red), Lotto-domo(shown above) that goes w/ my jerseys ;), and a number of non team bandanas...
