Just got a 305. The bpm icon is constant indicating its reading OK but the bpm doesn't show in the display. How do I get tp display bpm?

Thanks Larry

Do you mean it reads "---" for BPM, or there is no BPM section on the screen? If the latter, read the manual about setting up the display, you can choose two screens worth of one to 8 display items, you just need to configure the screen contents.

If the former, sorry, I don't know what's wrong.

^^^ If the former, it's not picking up signal from the sensors in your chest strap. Make sure:
1. You have good contact with the skin (some people suggest saline gel, but I've never had to do that)- also, the strap should be snug, but not tight.
2. Make sure you're not near other RF devices that can interfere with the signal, or cause the Garmin to pair with them instead of the HR monitor. You probably want to restart the scan, just to be sure- see p. 59 and p. 71 in the manual.
3. It's possible that the batteries are dead, or at least not making contact with the electrodes in the sensor strap. Open the door and make sure that the little plastic thing they ship the strap has been removed- they put that there to keep the batteries from discharging. If that fails, replace the battery.

Is it fixed yet?

Change your battery in the strap... then go into the Garmin menu and re-search for your device to make sure you have a coded connection.
