they kinda look like the araya sa-1 i have sitting in the corner of my apartment...

they look more shiny and rounded at the "V" portion than mavics... i'm leaning toward arayas as well.

If you check out the rear tire:
pointing to roughly 9 o'clock, there is a yellowish coloration. Do the Arayas have that? I never knew Araya made deepVs...if they do, nice!

that looks to me like it might be the reflection of his chainstay or shoe (or the rim decal)... in either case, yes, araya makes a deep rim. they're fairly rare, tho. they pop up on ebay now and again, and harris cyclery lists them on their website. that's the only retailer i know of online that does.
