Bicycle Mechanics - Old Ideale Saddle don't fit.

I just found myself an old steel railed ideale saddle (unsure which model exactly, the sides have been rubbed off or stained too much, think it's a 'TB' something) In any case the rails are spaced narrower than any of my seatpost clamps, and I hear it's an old French thing that they did. Now without killing myself to try to find an old french seatpost and clamp in the right diameter for my bike, etc.
Is there any way, perhaps even by force, that I can get this saddle to fit?

Odd problem! I have an Ideale 92 that fits seatposts well.

Brooks often do this also. Just spread the rails and clamp it. Roger

Suggestions for spreading saddle rails? I feel like I might destroy something.
