Have always ridden road bikes but Im very close to pullin the triger on a new track bike since Ive been test ridding them and found that Im very compatible with fixed gear, never had so much fun. So anyhow, tried out Fuji; was fun, tried Bianchi, didnt like it as well (but both were too big for me). They tell me that the top tube is shorter than road bikes that stretch you out, thats what the drops are for on track bikes. The one I think I will end up with but cant test is the Soma Rush; have to order the frame and the LBS will build it. Im lucky they have two guys there that ride track bikes. I like the looks and they tell me its more of a track geometry than the other two I tried, which is part of my reason for going to track bikes anyhow, I want a fast handeling bike. Need advice on this frame. Is it ok? THe front triangle is631 steel what ever that is? and rear is chrome moly. The hubs I'm thinking we will use are called Suzue?sp? they are only 60/ pair and dont know if its a waste not to spend more? they looked cool but they said they are not sealed; I dont ride in the rain or snow if I can help it. Is it an ok bike to start with?

I can't speak to the rest of the bike, but I got the Suzue NSP (Basic, etc) rear hub. It's alright once you repack the bearings with some fresh grease. Mine had small metal shavings in it, so it was grinding until I repacked the bearings. Also, the threads on these hubs aren't as nice, as say, Campy or Surly hubs, but they work.
Good fun with the build.

Go for the better Suzue hubs with sealed bearings and you will be happier in the long run. Too many people have experienced trouble with the basic hubs to warrant serious consideration. Yes, you can repack the bearings, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. The cog threads are less than desirable from a longevity standpoint also. The old adage that you get what you pay for applies here. The rest of the frame specs are fine for an entry level bike. Should provide you with many miles of happiness.

I would also advise the Suze flip-slop hub in case you want to go SS.
The Soma is sweet. I almost got one myself.
Post a pic when you get her together.
