Bicycle Mechanics - Mavic 501 Hubs w/126mm Spacing

I've got an 8 spd Campy set up from the early 90's complete with 501 hubs and a Regina freewheel w/130 spacing on the rear.

Did I buy the only sets of Mavic 501 130m spacing? Everything I see on Ebay is 126 spacing.

* Is there any way to modify those 126mm's to 130mm?

My other wheelsets are tubular and I'd like to build a clincher set up and would like to the use 501's.

the way to modify this wheel would be to use spacer on the axle to move it up to 130 and re dish the wheel so it will be center in the frame. for the spacer to work you may need a longer axle.

I have these hubs but wonder if your solution would be possible in that these use cartridge bearings.

I vaguely recall that there was a replacement rear axle for 130 OLN but the vast majority of Mavic 501 hubs were fitted with 126 OLN axles. Swapping spacers isn't a viable option.

The 500/501 hubs of that era were basically identical to the 530/531 "mountain bike" hubs, aside from the axle. Mountain bikes from then were 130mm OLD.
