I like LA but I'm not sure how sane I will be after 4 more months of headlines like:

http://www.velonews.com/article/89463/armstrong-no-guarantees-to-win-tour-again

No guarantees? No sh*t! If that's the best angle on a story you've got consider a new career.

Cavendish did elevate his game to the Big Time Spring Classics level. That kid is the Real Deal. It's great for cycling to have a big Brit star.

True, but so does any other cheap, low-quality product. It’s not wrong to expect more.

Might as well read Bicycling…

From the Isle of Man information site -

The Isle of Man has the unusual status of being one of the British Isles that is neither part of Great Britain nor the United Kingdom. People born here are known as 'Manx', classified as British (as opposed to English). Despite the steady integration of new residents from other countries, some locals still refer to newcomers as 'comeovers' and England as 'across'.

lance is lance.

Q: Were you frustrated by some riders saying you could not do it, because you are not a strong climber?
Cavendish: "Yes. Absolutely. I knew that is what they were saying. Tom Boonen said I am alwaysdropped when the road go up. In Tirreno, I only got dropped once. The sweet thing was to win, but the second sweetest thing was to see Tom Boonen pass me backwards on the climbs."

I think that's a little funny.

I'm pretty sure Boonen was riding for Champion Systems in Central Park this morning.

This is from Lances twitter feed.

lancearmstrong - "Read the Sunday Times Sports section on the flight. Pages and pages of rugby, soccer, cricket and barely a mention of Cavendish. Pitiful."

I'm new to this sport but from what I can see Cav doesn't seem to be a jerk, he's confident but he has a lot of respect for his team and always says he couldn't do this if he didn't have such a great team. Plus from what I've watched and read LA has pulled some dick moves in his time too.

Plus it's not LA fault that every time he farts during a race new sources cover it, he's the face of cycling, he doesn't dictate that... nike does.

Vintage Botto. Confrontational, pretentious and, above all, meaningless. Thanks for your continuous asinine behavior. It just reinforces my opinion of you.

Well, its one of those age old claim/counter claim deals.

The Isle of Man is not part of Great Britain, it is a Crown Dependency. Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state. the UK takes care of defense and international relations and a local parliament takes care of affairs on the island.

However, the nationality of Manxmen is not very clear (unless of course you are a Manxman or Mark Cavendish).

"Citizenship in the Isle of Man is governed by UK law. Passports issued by the Isle of Man Passport Office say 'British Islands - Isle of Man' on the cover but the nationality status stated on the passport is simply 'British Citizen'."

I say let Mr Cavendish say whatever he wants about his nationality.

In fact he has called himself British,

"You can see on TV that I'm gutted, I'm swearing. Imagine winning a stage on the Tour de France in Britain. For a British rider it's the biggest thing you can do and to have it ruined like that, not through any mistake I'd made, was really disappointing."

I'm sure that Cav and the people of the Isle of Man all take a lot of pride in the guy's origins. How does that get Botto off the hook for being a jerk?

If he was being witty and referring to the cat, he would have written, "a Manx". If he was being even wittier and insinuating that those from the Isle of Man aren't British, well, he's just wrong. I suppose that would be a real knee-slapper in Holland, though. They're known for their zany humor.

I find whining about others to be jerkier. So maybe you guys should just hook up.

How so? Has Botto ever really contributed anything to any thread? His posts are all derogatory and for the most part wrong. What climb was it that Cav was going to get dropped on at MSR again, Botto? You were plenty vocal about it last week.

I'd 'hook' with this gas-bag any day. My guess is that is board persona is a damn sight different than how he comes across real life. Anyone that throws weight around in person like he does on this board better be 7 feet tall, and if that's the case, he's not riding a bike much. It's actually entertaining to be the burr under his saddle. If that makes me a jerk, so be it.
