Does anyone use duct tape to protect their paint or frame when locking up? I remember reading in another thread that the adhesive in the tape will actually eat away at your paint - true?

I put some plastic wrap (saran wrap) around the portion of the tt i'm going to tape, and then tape it. This way I can also take it off whenever I please.

yes, duct tape directly on your paint will ruin it.

truth.
i will be making a top tube protector out of some pipe insulation and material. look into doing something like that before you put duct tape on something you are looking to NOT ruin the appearance of.

I use one of these:

I use it as a strap for my pants leg and when I get off the bike, I wrap it around the TT for protection. Mmmm...multi-tasker....

Thanks for the info...I'll look into a cheap TT protector.
