Today I took my Birdy for some work to the Greenspeed trike factory (just 18km from home). Later in the day I picked it up again and went in to pay for the work. The "office" is a shelf along the wall in a corner of the factory, in the parts store. So while Rachel Sims struggled to get the CC machine going, I went for a stroll along those shelves groaning with bike parts... oh boy

* A shelf stocked with Bromton parts, rear triangles, forks, saddles, seatposts, smaller bits like brakes etc. etc. (Greenspeed is the local importer for Brommie.)
* A shelf stocked with small wheel parts, rims, spokes, cassettes, hubs, mudguards, with a zillion tyres hanging from the wall.:love:
* Shelf chock-full of chainrings and chainring guards... some of those rings were truly giant, MUCH larger than my 60T rings, probably close to 100T...
* shelf brimming with internal gear stuff, a box full of Nexus 8sps, SA 8sps, SRAM iMotion-9s along with shifters, cables, sprockets... :thumb:
*Greenspeed trikes standing around in all stages of build... :p
Just outside a 4-wheel 'bike' which they had just welded S&S couplers in... a bike that I have read about that is going to be ridden across Asia...

At this stage my vision was swimming and I got called back to the CC machine. :twitchy:

I wa going to bring my camera along but my daughter had pinched the mem card. :notamused:

Now that's a tricycle. And I'd never seen a tandem recumbent:

The factory must be a great place to wander! Great description, thanks.

Jur, I wonder if they have some Sachs 3x7 hub bits and Shimano long reach dual pivot brake calipers?

Do you have their phone number?

9753 3644, from the web site. I have some long reach calipers researched from ebay, $50US from bicyclesupply and good postage. We could share. I am not in a hurry.

What is the reach of those brakes and the widest width for tyres?

I need about 74mm length and the tyres I'm using are 24" x 1.75.

They are the tektro R556 which goes up to 74?mm or something in that range. Not sure about the tyre width... perhaps the Tektro site has info on that.

I've been researching folding recumbents. There are a *lot* of great bikes out there, but very few folding ones.
