Thanks to the Ides Ride, Chicago to Milwaukee, for providing my first century. Muscles feel good, head feels good, my right now is trashed, though. Not sure why..never had knee pain, but then again, I've never put more than 40 miles in one day on my track bike.
We got some great pics of the Kenosha velodrome, and I'll update everyone on our gnarly "Curly-Q Challenge"-- skidding down circular parking garage ramps after midnight...bike polo was today, but, had to hop an early Amtrak home...too much knee pain..
nice to meet you Mayonnaise...aka Mr. Eddy Merckx...

Sounds awesome. That's definitely something to work towards. I just did 15 miles today on the lake trail as my first ride in close to 8 months. God I feel out of shape...

Damn dude, 100 miles on fixed is pretty harsh. Good job! Was it hilly?

I am doing "Toast the Drive" which means I will still be drinking and raising a glass to SBV as he leaves to get up early to ride the drive. I ride parallel to it most days, one way during the commute - no need to drop $30 more than once. I do like the BLT though...26th and California on a trackbike.
So, I raise this mighty horn of ale to Skitbraviking, Hammer of the Gods. Fight well, ride fast, conquer all. I will be in bed, reeling from too much drink as you head north, and then south again on LSD (and possibly north once again, depending on which distance you selected).
SKOAL!

I'm gonna have to get out more. That's more miles than I've done in the last two weeks. Good job and good pix! Looked like fun.

I was going to do Bike The Drive, but then I decided I saw no reason to pay that much, especially considering I've worked 8 days in the last 70.

Yeah, it was decently hilly....
Winnetka was hilly, in parts, especiallyin that "No Bike Zone", which is this gnarly little ravine that curves and curves and drops, then same thing back up...
Most of the time we were on Sheridan...and route 32 in Wisconsin...
Ill post more route details in a bit..

I've done several 100+ days on my Pista. I prefer to throw a brake (yeah, yeah, I know) on for the longer rides. Spinning at 120794 r.p.m. coming down a 2 mile long descent into a stop sign at mile number 140 can be pretty vicious without a brake.
Here's a picture of one group of guys I ride with. The guy to my right is pretty strong, so we usually end up way ahead, taking turns drafting each other. When we get to a hill, I usually burn them to the top, but they always pass me on the way down, so it kind of evens out.
p.s. notice how much nicer my high-tech cross-ventilated torso wicking apparatus is than their spandex stuff.

yeah, know what you mean about the brake...if i had decided to do the race more than 12 hours before it started, I would have gone the brake/SS route, most likely...but, it was a whim, so, I figured, why wimp out?
