While this is probably not directly their fault, My card info was stolen and used after making a purchase from PBK, and apparently, so have hundreds of others. All in the last month or so. If you've bought from them recently I'd check your statements!

Same here. OFG sends me an email that Campy cassettes are in stock at PBK, I buy one on Saturday morning, and Chase calls me up Today to ask about suspicious activity. Card cancelled, new one on the way. No loss on my part, about $20 total in fraudulent charges.

Another, different card opened upexpressly for internet purchases about 10 minutes ago.

Hmmm, interesting. I just got my Visa replaced and the old card canceled after being notified of fraudulent activity two weeks ago. I also got in on the deal for PBK's cheap bar tape right before that.

I hate this kind of stuff. Happened to me on both my debit card and credit card both in the last three months.

Hmmm. I think I just learned how my card was compromised. I ordered some Conti tires from them. No harm as my company called and asked me if I spent $450 at a high res photo site. Surprisingly, it was not a p0rn site, but a legit site used by ad agencies. Since I travel quite a bit, I get calls from them often since my card will pop up across the country from one day to the next. Nice to know they are alert, but I watch my statments closely anyway.

My AmEx card was compromised soon after I took out a subscription to "The Economist" (a UK magazine) using their online website.

Interesting. My card and my wifes card, both Chase were hacked. I think its a banking, credit card slip-up. I think someone goofed big time if so many of us are having problems. New security devices need to be implemented if its that easy to get card info.

I would suggest running Malwarebytes and Spybot. I found some suspicious stuff on my computer after the theft.

It's been about 6 weeks since I last ordered from PBK, with no problems.

I did have my info stolen by the night shift at a hotel we stayed at in Arkansas while on a recruiting visit with my daughter at a university in January. The idiot used my info, including cell #, and then used his real name and home address to try and have a boat load of electronic gadgets delivered. Darwin lives.

You guys need to check into something called "ShopSafe". Certain credit cards offer it and the basic principle is you log on to your account and generate a completely legit credit card number valid for that transaction only with a credit limit and a limited expiration date. Once the amount is used, the number is useless. All my online purchases are done this way.

This is nothing compared to the T.J. Maxx credit card info theft from last years. Tens of thousands of numbers stolen. I think I will be looking into 'ShopSafe' --

A short time ago a major payment processing service was hacked. The parties involved timed the press release to coincide with the inauguration...you know, to make certain that everyone knew. :rolleyes:

Online retailers aren't the only ones that were affected. A TON of restaurants apparently used that same service.

The brilliant thing is that your phone number went through that processor as well, if via an online purchase. Wait until the telemarketing calls start...

Not that I have any similar and recent personal experiences.

No big deal. Just let you card company know the charge was fradulant. They send you a new card and you sign a statement saying the charge isn't yours.

this has been going around the card processing companies. I saw a story about this in the last week about a credit card processor company that was feeding info to some crooks.

My info was stolen 2 weeks back by someone in Spain who tried to purchase both airline and rail tickets and some expensive sneakers over a 2 day period, all of which were denied thankfully, else I'd be out a few hundred bucks while waiting for the dispute. They suspended the card and got me a new card sent out.

I couldn't trace anywhere else on the internet my info would be stolen, as I order online mostly from reputable sites like Amazon.com and such, but this is as plausible a theory as any.

Purchased some stuff from PBK on 12/27. Fraudulent charges for $52 worth of merchandise in euros to a website called abaccess.com appeared on 1/13. I called Chase and disputed it and they credited my account. They wanted to issue new cards, but the account is linked to several automatic payments and it would have been a major hassle to redo everything. Since this incident I have been monitoring account activity closely online and nothing else out of the ordinary has happened. I have also ordered from PBK since without a problem.

I was wondering how I got hit.

I bought a few parts from PBK last month & about 2 weeks ago my card was denied at the supermarket. When I got home my son had taken a message from my credit union after they detected suspicious activity & blocked my account. The only thing that got through was some guy in FL (I'm in central Cal) named Fabio (really) who ordered a $400 espresso machine from Williams & Sonoma, the hoity-toity housewares place. I'm filing a fraud claim so I shouldn't be out anything other than a bit of hassle.

At first I wondered if anybody really investigates the recipeints of the bogus purchases, but I guess it is so prevalent that they only chase the big ones.

Too bad for PBK. Probably not their fault. This was my first order from them & I plan to buy again after the smoke clears.
