I'm riding most of the Breathless Agony course on Saturday and staying in Redlands overnight to watch the races Sat and Sunday. This is a great event that I encourage everyone to support. The men and women racers give it their all, we should encourage and support them all we can.

Pedaling out Thur to catch the time trials. Fri is up to Onyx Summit (or Angelus Oaks, depending on the evening before). Sat the gf and I will ride in the Rotary scenic ride, followed by the downtown criterium w/ biers. Then the true weekend highlight; the Sunday pancake breakfast!!! Last year, repeats were free.

I'll be out there taking pictures, still not sure if I'm going to race yet. I'm hoping the 1/2s fill up so I don't have to race.

Is this more like a century/group ride or more like a hard core race? Could a recreational rider go out and "race" in the redlands classic? In running terms, is it more like your local 5k fun run or more like the Boston Marathon???

Thanks!

More like the boston marathon. I would never recommend to someone to go out and try a race, before they are comfortable in fast group rides and tight packs. You would be putting yourself and everyone else out there in danger, even in the beginners (cat 5). I trained for months before I entered my first race and had been riding for a year before that.
