I'm thinking of getting the Shimano wh-r540 road wheelset. I'm bet. 160-170lbs. Does anyone have tested this wheelset and will it hold my weight? Or any recommendation for a good low spoke count wheelset?
Thanks!

I recommend against them. They came on my bike stock and I had tons of trouble with them. I just got a replacement back wheel sent to me because my other one was just trashed. I'm a <140lb spinner riding on pretty good roads and I broke 3 spokes on the rear. When I was picking up my wheel on friday from my lbs, they informed me that shimano hadnt told anyone that when you break one spoke on these wheels you have to detension all the spokes and basically build up the wheel again or else you will have future problems with them, which I can attest to. The lbs that sent the wheel in didnt know this, nor did my other lbs that put the temporary spokes in. The guy also said nobody will have those bladed spokes on the wheels for another month at least. When I first broke a spoke, the 5 lbs in my area didnt have a single spoke for them. For the same price that these retail for, I got a pair of custom wheels that were a pound lighter, much stiffer, all for the same price.

Go for Mavic Cosmos wheels instead. MUCH BETTER!

plus they are quite heavy for an aero wheel. I like my Velomax wheels...pity this model doesn't come out on the shelves, only comes on a bike. aero, 100g lighter than 540's and strong as a brick **** house.

I know this sounds too good to be true. I guess looks can be deceiving. I'm def. saving more money and get a mavic wheelset. Thanks to all your info!
