Hey there all, I picked up this 1972 PX10 the other day. Its a 56cm.

It is largely original (saddle and seatpost arent) wheels are tubular. Additionally, the seller said he purchased it from the original in 1979 and this was the fork that was on it, which is not original either.

The deal is the decals are in bad condition and the paint is in bad condition and there is rust.

My real question is, would it be worth more to have it repainted cheaply and spend $50 in decals? I know a decent frame painter and wouldnt cost more than $25 for that. So will I increase the sale price by more than $75 by doing this?

thanks for any help.

Its kinda rough therefore I'd repaint it and redecal it. The rust mark in the last photo is of concern as those tubes are only 1mm thick.

I cant tell what fork that is but it appears to have some type of sloping crown which puts it in the 90's while the rest of the bike is clearly pre-'74 as evidenced by the Reynolds decal on the seat tube.

+1 Paint it. But you need to strip it down and treat the rust first (oxalic acid bath). You could find more trouble internally.

The oxalic will also do a nice job cleaning up that fork. Here's an example of a chrome/oxalic clean up on my Lotus.
