A little buzzing never hurt anyone.
Or we can do the Borrego ride. We start in Santa Ysabel, ride up to Julian, go down a big hill to Borrego, go up a big hill to Ranchita, go over Mesa Grande to the start. Besides long and hilly, it's usually hot, cold and windy. And there's a bunch of motorhomes towing jeeps that buzz you on the climb.

Is it faster to go 5 then 76 or 15 and Pala Rd?

It's 4 miles from 15 to the market. I think it's 17 from 5 but half of it is a freeway.
oh, man, i used to do this exact route all the time. (we usually started at my buddy's off mission by the old pumpkin patch down to 395, w. lilac...) so much fun.

You slackers missed out. Nice weather inland today.

What kind of cruel person would make a road dead end at the bottom of a big hill?
If I would have remembered that we'd be climbing back into a headwind, I might taken the golfers up on their offer of beer and a ride.

Outside of your obvious lack of navigational skills, this route was excellent. Mr. "This is My Neighborhood and every little road ends up in the same spot" got lost and took us to the 5th hole of Cross Creek. Nice... Only 2 redneck buzzes the entire time. Probably the best part would be the downhill run on Sandia Creek, at least when we finally got there, which involved doubling back, into a headwind up a short steep hill because of Mr. "This is My Neighborhood and every little road ends up in the same spot" wrong turn. Otherwise very enjoyable and the heat was not a factor either.
That's not really my neighborhood; I lied to you. It's too dark and scary out there for me.
