So I have this project I'm working on, Bianchi SL AL frame that came with a 10 speed Chorus Front Derailer. The rest of the bike I put a used 8 Speed Mirage group on. I can't use the Mirage front derailer because there is no braze-on mount on the SL AL frame. Everything works except on the small chainring, the low-limit screw on the FD all the way out, the 8-speed chain rubs the inside cage plate on the largest cogs. I figure I have three options...

1) Get a braze-on to clamp adaptor and use the 8-speed FD with it's wider cage.
or find a used 8-speed clamp FD for cheap.
2) Get a 10 speed chain (expensive? will it work on 8 speed cogs?)
3) Bend the 10-speed FD's cage (DOH!)

Any suggestions?

10 speed chain is unlikely to sit properly on 8 speed cogs. Bending the FD is going to be trial and error, mostly error. I would go with option #1.

How about you sell me your Chorus FD and you use a part of that to buy the adapter clamp for your Mirage?
