Just got back home from a few days in New York. Friday evening, smack in the middle of rush hour in Times Square, I see this guy in a gold/white Saeco kit with a messenger bag slung over his shoulder just hauling @$$ through traffic. Then I see that his right leg is missing above the knee! THEN, I see that he was riding a fixie! WOW...I was impressed.

I'm guessing this has to be him. The dude I saw was missing his right leg and had the same left-side chain setup this article described. After reading his story, I'm even more impressed! Thanks for sending the link!
Dexter rocks! If you're lucky enough to have seen Pedal, a film about messengers in NYC (shown on the Sundance channel) then you get to see him in action.
Unless of course you're nuovorecord and you see him in NY.

I've never seen him while in NYC (on trips, that is), but dude is a hell of a role model. Just reading about him makes me want to get off my lazy *ss and ride.
This when so many of our two-legged brethren won't even walk inside McDonald's to get their Big Macs. It makes me proud to be human propulsion and inspires me to swallow the pain and keep going when it's necessary.
