Texas - Riding w/ GW Bush in Dallas

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Check out the pics of my friend Maryanne riding with former President Bush at LBH trail in Dallas

I guess it would be one of those times having a "This bike is a pipe bomb" stickers on your bike would be a very bad thing.
Pretty cool and looks like the Secret Service guys were pretty laid back.
I must say he had an interesting choice of riding shirt, though...
Cool picts!

I thought, what an odd shirt to wear riding, then notice it has the Pearl Izumi logo on it, so perhaps is a custom cycling jersey.
Also his helmet says "Marine One." Wonder if he should have left that for Obama.

Very cool but quite frankly I'd like to see more pictures of the chick named Mallory in that album :-)

Meh. I don't think I'd want to be anywhere near the man. I hold him largely responsible for the mess our country is in right now.
Also, it's kind of discouraging to see the Secret Service chase vehicles on the path instead of bikes.
At least he wears a helmet.
He's a good rider who want's to stay in shape. He likes to ride 2-3 days a week I gave him the tour of LBH his 1st time out, my dad rode with him last week also

I wouldn't want to be anywhere near him either, not with all the damage he did to the country when he was the occupant of the White House. It's good to see him out bicycling for exercise instead of golfing.

Not to go political here, but if y'all think he is responsible for where our economy is right now, you know nothing at all about economics...

While not a fan of W, I have always been fascinated with the Secret Service. Cool pics.
Now, if we could just talk him into riding his bike down Royal Ln, a few days a week, us commuters would get an armed escort. NOBODY would honk at us with the SS along for the ride.;)

Darn right, we need to go back to the Regan years for that.

Besides the helmet, he's got good taste in bikes too, Trek Fuel EX 9.9 if I'm not mistaken.
While W made mistakes, no arguement, the economic mess had it's roots w/ the C admin and the push on Fannie and Freddie to make less secure loans. That and the lack of regulation and oversight in those markets. One thing for sure, borrowing our way out of it and flagrant socialism isn't the fix. Political mode off.
At least my house and bikes are paid for while my taxes go up . . .

ok can we leave the politics out of the thread please? us locals are enjoying the celeb in our midst.
on the other hand, somebody needs to take him shopping for clothes - I think that PI shirt and thos baggies are the only bike clothes he has.

 you're asking a former-presidential buffon sighting post to not get political?
Anyway, I kind of feel bad for him. He can't get a ride in alone without oodles of Secret Service following him. I'm sure he can't go to any serious trails where cars can't get to. Must be kind of a bummer.
Nice bike for sure. Nifty jersey too. It's kind of western classy, I like it.
Lucky for him, cycling shoes are too expensive to throw.
whether one agrees or disagrees with his politics and economic policies it's still
great to have an ex president who is into riding. The last ex president I saw on a bike
was Carter riding a Rivendell in Plains Ga.

I am not fan of his politics but I'm delighted to see someone with such prominence riding a bike around town.
He needs to get something a little classier if he's going to ride on pavement though.

Who is that mysterious person in the dark suit talking into his hand in that van?
HE has ridden most of the DORBA trails in the Dallas area, Cedar hill, RCP, LBH, OCNP, Boulder, and he hopes to ride them all over the next year. He has great cardo and endurance, not so technical, but for his age he's pretty darn good.

Our government, both parties, failed us for allowing the financial sector go unchecked - and now - starting with Bush and continuing with Obama - dumping the problem on our kids.

That SS agent has bad taste in ties, and if I was George I'd make him get on a bike and ride too.
