Was wondering if anyone had experience with this Mountain bike at all?

I have a new (month-old) trek hybrid 7200 that I am trying to sell or trade on CL, and someone offered me this bike. I am asking $400 for my bike as it really is brand new, it just doesn't suit me very well because it can't go on the trails around in my area. They said the diamondback was an $1000 bike when it was new, but that was back in 1998 or 1997. I don't have pictures yet and won't really look in person until I see them, but am just wondering if I should entertain this offer. I am not looking for an expensive MTB or even a new one, what can I value this one at in fair to good condition? Is an old mountain bike even worth looking at?

The description he gave me is:
19" Welded Carbon Fiber frame.
24 Speeds grip shift with Shimano Deore derailleurs.
Mavic Aluminum wheels with Shimano Deore hubs and quick releases.
Dia-Compe head set and bar.
Manitou folks.
WTB Veloci Raptor 2.1 tires.
Shimano Servo Wave Action brakes.
Sugino CSSII crank.
Avenir Aluminum seat post with GEL GLOUD-9 seat.

I loved mine the few months I had it before it was stolen in Gainesville, Florida.:cry:
If its the orangey-bronze color scheme, you will look at it and be all like :love:.

I still have mine, (96 WCF 4.0) I use it now as a around town commuter, but in its day, the WCF was a great XC bike. I will post a picture of mine in the morning. The only problem I ever heard of with the WCF was related to the forks......... Sometime back around 99 there was a recall of the Manitou forks. I don't remember the reason, but the fix was for the dealer to install a new Manitou (upgraded) fork. Great bikes, more of a race geometry, and with some upgrades, I think the frame is still a competitive hard tail :thumb:

Here is a picture of my WCF 4.0... its still one of my favorites, the only changes I have made are a specialized stem (shorter) and seat, and a set of Nashbar 26x1.25 slicks run at 85 psi for pavement. (and the up graded SX-R fork from the recall)
Personally, I wouldn't take $400.00 for my WCF because I have owned it since it was new, That said, I think $400.00 might be a little high for a 96 - 98 Mtn Bike. (I guess it depends on what you are looking for)
