sucks to be you. :p

My first class wasn't canceled and I almost rode my bike to school. Glad I didn't, because during class is when the blizzard really started hitting. I would've ended up having to walk home... Instead, I put the truck in 4 wheel drive and took off...

Blizzard? We had some rain last weekend. I think that's it for the winter inclement weather here.

Seriously? The only thing different from the norm is wind.

Now, do you hate me because it's snowing and a perfect time to board, or is the hate more generalized and you just also happen to want to board? :p

I laugh, because it's supposed to be 60 here tomorrow.

Did I mention that I've used up my entire lifetime's supply of tolerance for snow.

I can ride tomorrow. You can't.

This is Colorado in the springtime. I wouldn't be surprised if it's 70 tomorrow. :p

It's to be a breezy 78 degrees tomorrow.

Oh, and not snowing.

Yeah, but you have to live in Sactown, so it's really kinda moot.... :p

Supposedly, we're going to get several inches of snow this weekend....it'll be interesting to see if this happens. Regardless, it won't be around long!

b) I most certainly won't be here.

 My bad... I won't ever mention Sactown again. No siree, the word Sactown will never leave my lips again. You have changed my mind on using that word, Sactown.

:p

You out riding again? Where do you ride?

Blizzard? So far this is a joke. The governer of CO has declared a freakin' emergency... for a snow storm!! Isn't this CO where they EXPECT snow??

When I tell my friends about this back in Maine, they'll laugh themselves silly!

yeah, I thought that was kinda silly, but when I got out of class at 10 this morning, it was stupid... only lasted for an hour or so, though...

This one was a bit lame. I think they overreacted a bit due to the blizzards a few years ago.
Especially the one that shutdown the highways for a bit. Then there was the blizzard of 2003 where snow fell straight for two days and my power was out while my wife was pregnant. That and I was trying to keep tropical fish and a gecko warm. Amazingly enough a plow came down my street. Thornton never plows.

damn... Isn't there any good riding around you? There's some, but I like it o'er there. That's about as far as I regularly go, though. A lot of the time it's half that distance.

If you like hot dry windy days (depending on the season)

Coastalized places are much better. More better scenery, often nicer roads, etc....

Observations after my first major CO "blizzard"
1)People in CO do not know how to drive in snow.
2)Despite their not knowing how to drive in it, and clogging up traffic for literally HOURS, I did not see a single accident in my 2 hour 45 minute (9 mile) commute home, which is AMAZING considering on an average day I'd see half a dozen if I was driving around town for that long.
3)A CO blizzard is not a REAL blizzard. It's just snow.

Agreed!!
I can't believe they canceled school BEFORE it even snowed. In MN they would have had school anyway, and maybe... just maybe, set students home an hour early so buses could avoid rush-hour traffic.

I tried to go to three different gyms/rec centers after work, and everything was CLOSED! So instead, I celebrated with ice cream and a bottle of wine. Nothing like a blizzard party!

Agreed on #1. A couple of things I noticed:

1. About 30% of the idiots don't turn on their headlights!! Even more dumb are the ones in white/silver/gray cars driving around in very lo vis to near whiteout conditions with no lights on.
2. They slow down nicely when it snows... but tailgate the guy in front of them!! I mean don't they get the fact that they can't stop on slippery roads, which is why they're slowing down in the first place???
3. Many have the "I have 4-wheel drive" mentality. That is, they figure once they engage 4WD, they can go anywhere. And they're mostly right... what they don't understand (and, of course, this isn't unique to CO), they STILL ONLY HAVE THE SAME BRAKING POWER AS WITHOUT 4WD!!
4. They don't plow here.

On #2, I saw several accidents on my way home. The snow here is a bit different from ME; it get slick quicker. Not sure why that is, but it does. Not a big deal if you recognize and adjust appropriately. But despite slowing down, they do other dumb things to get into more trouble like the tailgating. And I guess if you're going slower, you no longer need turn signals. :twitchy:

For #3, I'm not even sure I agree wth that. We had close to, if not actual, blizzard conditions down here (Officially, the National Weather Service defines a blizzard as a storm which contains large amounts of snow OR blowing snow, with winds in excess of 35 mph and visibilities of less than 1/4 mile for an extended period of time (at least 3 hours)), but not all that much snow in the end.

And then there's the shoveling your driveway out into the middle of the street. WTF??

Or even worse, the ones that just push the snow in their driveway to the end, creating a snowbank like a snowplow would do.

I just don't get it.

One of the main issues is that we do not get enough practice. In years where snow is regularly dumped on us the drivers improve....IMHO.
That being said I know I suck at driving in the snow mainly due to the fact that I ride my bike everywhere. At least I have the intelligence to stay at home or take the bus\rail.
