Road Cycling - Yet another crank question.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have a trek1000 alpha and I think I've messed up the crank, possibly the peddle as well. I wrote another post awhile back and was told to get a new crank. (I think I pushed too hard and stripped out where the peddle and crank meet.) So I went off on that little quest to do so. Come to find out there are all these numbers and such and I have no clue what they mean (I'm a NOOB) so if someone could help me out. I ordered some new peddles just in case I stripped mine out but I need a new crank. My bike has sora components. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what to look for? Even point me in a direction on ebay or such? I would really appreciate it. Its the right side crank (the one with the gears on it). Oh, I'm trying to find something cheap due to the fact that I'm poor ;)
Thank you in advance for any help!
Justin
I realize that I wrote this at 3 am and maybe I rambled a bit too much. Hey! Its 3 am again LOL....
Let me retype this and just leave the original as I can't figure out how to edit right now.....
I'm basically just needing to know what crank to purchase. (so much easier said than last time) I have a Trek 1000 and all original sora parts. Will any crank do? I guess this may be a tough question as most people who would know this type of answer wouldn't have this level of bike.
I dont' know of any local bike shops...so if someone could give me an idea...I think I saw something that said 175? What does that mean? Thanks again for any help.

You can always just grab another Sora crankset from an online retailer. Most cranksets come in pairs (including the drive and non-drive cranks). Anyways, I'm not sure if you have a double or a triple so here's the option of both
Triple (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=81&subcategory=1034&brand=&sku=2950&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=)
Double (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=81&subcategory=1034&brand=&sku=2949&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=)
And then you can choose what size cranks you want (170mm or 175mm)
You might also want to check with your LBS. I'm not sure if it gets any cheaper by ordering just the crankarms sans the rings (assuming your rings are okay) but it might be so you might want to have them investigate that option for you. Also, I believe bikeshops can order just one crank arm so if it's only one arm that's damaged, that can save you some money too.
Thanks for the info :) I will find a local bike shop and see if they can order just the one I need. If they can't I will use the links that were provided. Thanks again!
My bike was a triple btw.
Oh......one more thing....how will I know if I need a 170 or 175?
