Anyone out there have one of these forks & are NOT satisfied with it?

My '04 HARO came with one, and I'm in the process of upgrading it with an air pre-stage assist. $20 from my LBS. Just wondering if others of you have been disappointed with yours....
I thought about buying a new 'zocchi Z-1 drop-off 2, but mine should be about the same with the upgrade. The only difference I see is 30mm sanctions vs. 32mm & 105mm travel vs. 130mm on the Z-1.

Any "truthful" comments will be greatly appreciated!

;)

Nope, sorry, I went ahead and spent the extra $$$ and bought the Z-1.

On top of that, you will have more adjustability in the Z1 and better internals. The 32mm sanctions should make it stiffer but then again when I tried it, I felt nothing at all since I am a weiner kid.

Ive felt 2003 EXR which are not that much different internal wise and they don't feel as nice as the higher end models. Maybe your air upgrade will solve that. Let us know.

The exr has no internals. Essentially a fork, spring and some oil. It feels really stiff without any damping. Personally it is worth the money you pay (200$)...

I don't know about the air but I assume similar performance.

Air pre-stage units finally came in... Local bike shop is installing tomorrow (Tuesday). I will keep everyone informed. Plan to ride again Wed., weather permitting that is....

It should be very similar to Z-1 Dropoff 2 , and Freeride after this upgrade.....

Pardon me. You do realize the FR has hsvc which is signifigantly better than ssv that exr and the dropoff has. The performance won't even be close. Thats like comparing the 888 and a jrT...

Well, you're pardoned.... As for my fork, I got it back today and I'm tickled shiitless to say the least.... :p

I didn't feel like throwing away my OEM fork, and dropping another $400 w/o at least trying an upgrade on my 'Zocchi EXR Pro. I'm glad I spent the $32 to make it Air & Oil w/ Springs. I have the best of both worlds, literally. :D

My 5" of front travel is plenty for me.... Have a nice ride! :o

How does the fork feel? Was the upgrade worth it?

It feels GREAT man! Like my other Dual Crown forks on my 2 other DH racers.... It is a MUST upgrade if you have a similar type fork.... It completely eliminated the sag, and the bobbing while I stand-up & pedal. It is "Killer" believe me. For $32, heck I would've paid close to a $100 for this difference in feel/performance! I'm ecstatic. :D

32$ (even if it is 50 cdn ;))...wow that is a worth while upgrade to make the fork feel better. The air would add some much needed plushness...

Actually, it already had an abundance of "plushness". It was in need of more "stiffness". That air adaptor gave it just that. No more bob, bottoming-out, nor too plushy. It is more of a big hit fork feel. The little stuff may be more noticeable though. It's just the way I like my forks to feel I suppose..... :)

The exr is a bighit fork?...

No, but it "feels" like one. Although I'm sure it could take quite a pounding.... (it's 5" of travel)

Thats a pretty cool upgrade kit. Whats odd is I found the exr had little to no give with the proper springs in. Great for xc if it wasn't for the weight I suppose :)

Generally for personal tastes I prefer a plush fork (a little negative travel) and very stiff laterally. I found the exr too flexy for my tastes...(not saying its a bad fork, most forks feel flexy to me)

I feel that it's a decent fork for what I have in it. I just hated to trash it w/o at least trying an upgrade for very little cost. I'll have it wore out in a year I'm sure....About 60 miles a week year round takes its toll.

On any fork. My z1 is just about done. Luckily because it is a 2002 I get a tradein value to marz (which is confirmed) for any fork I desire...gonna stick to the z1 fr...nothing quite like it for feel. Just now will be the bigger stanchions and improved cryofit.

This is what I bought, just a '04 model.

Like I said, $20 and it is a TOTALLY different fork.... :D

FYI, the 'Zocchi Z1 is what I planned to buy if this didn't work out. I think they make excellent forks.

Wow...airbomb changed their website...wooo...

So is that a air preload. I can't really tell what it does?

Yeah and marzocchi is awesome. Great support and customer service. If I wasn't getting this upgrade I would have tried manitou though. I like to play on different products. Maybe for my dh bike I will try something different, especially since the jrT feel like riding poo...

it's easy to install provided you have the right sized spanner to do so. all it is, is a top cap for your fork that allows you to pump air into it.

You'd obviously lose any preload adjust on that side though... Would you have to remove any thing internally?

BTW - the EXR Pro I'm talking about is the COIL version.

Sorry that you guy's got on board almost a year after my post....

This is a very good fork for the cost. If you insist on upgrading, then I'd recommend you wait 'til the year-end clearance sales come along....

Good Luck....
BTW: this IS an awesome fork.

Xtreme Biker/Killer B (same guy) did this upgrade on the coil version EXR as stated in the first post of the thread.

as for the preload adjust, i believe - and i could be wrong - that this upgrade would make the fork's preload adjustable via the amount of air you pump into it. perhaps xtreme/killer can clarify.

guys? i knew this thread was a year old. i was just answering cisted's question. if you haven't checked his profile, he's a new member to this board (btw, welcome to bikeforums cisted), so what's the apology for?
