Hey all,
It's a stretch but I figured maybe some of you could help me.

My friend got this bike used from a building materials donation center he works at from a guy didn't know he couldn't donate bike. My friend gave it to me and I have since converted it into a fixed gear. The bike has been repainted and I am curious as to what brand it was and how old it is. I hope the pictures help, sorry about them being cell pics. I tried for a close up on distinctive features that would make it stand out from any other bike.

Notice the heart shaped metal pieces.

Not a strech, but your going to have to post way more (detailed) pics than that.

And you should do that in the Classic and Vintage forum. You'll get a lot more help there. Look to be a lower end model, whatever it is.

if im not mistaken it is an american eagle(nishiki before they were nishiki) my friend just recently bought the same frame has the same heart and lug pattern.

I think those are pretty common--small rings of wire are used as cable stops, and the hearts prevent the rings from slipping down the tubes, if I remember correctly.

yeah I'm pretty sure that's it. According to serial numbers it's between 1975 and 1972. Both wheels are much newer than that and made from aluminum, not a bad free bike i'd say. Thank you guys.

The heart shaped pieces on the down tube prevent the shift levers and cable guides from sliding on the tube.
