I have a set of Alex SUB rims that came off the Kilo TT Pro. I was wondering if I could use the hubs, spokes, and nipples and lace them up to a pair of DP18 rims? or are the spokes too long, too short?

check the effective rim diameters, but the lateral move to dp18s isnt really worth the trouble. if you really want those rims, grab some formulas and go from the ground up.

dp18 are definitely not a big upgrade from those rims.

the velocity deep v are way better for looks if that's what you're after and there's a lot of other better rims out there from mavic and whatnot.

the whole point of building up your own wheels is to use the good components that you want without having to spring for a wheelset that is either too expensive or too unoriginal. you'll have to get new spokes whatever you do.

honestly, don't ruin perfectly good wheels. sell them to someone who can use them as they are and get the wheelset you want.

But to answer your specific questions....
Need some more info.
How long are the spokes you have? (measure them).
What is the ERD of the DP18 rims? (measure it)
Then use a good spoke calc program and enter the hub measurements (measure them), the rim ERD, and it will calculate the spoke length required.
Then compare the calculated spoke length with the lengths of the spokes you have and .....
Wala - you have your answer.

as the above poster said, do that. But just using some simple logic the spokes should be of the correct length since both the Alex sub and the Dp18 rims are 30mm deep.

Not sure what you are going for here though. if it is quality then you won't be gaining any since both are middle of the line. If it's color I would recommend just taking the wheels apart and getting the rims powdercoated. Should be cheaper than buying new rims and you would have more color options.

would i be too hipster if i built up a twisted spoke wheel? I'm not going to argue if it's weaker, harder to true, and a springy unmanageable mess, I just want to make sure i'm not exiled from bfssfg

not all 30mm rims have the same ERD.
