Haisai (that's Okinawan, for "hello" : )

Well, pretty much everywhere you can get the rubber to meet the road would be suitable. :D

enjoy your new ride & welcome.

I did a quick search of "san jose bike routes" and found plenty of resources. Here's a good one to get you started - http://www.vta.org/schedules/gmaps/index.html. Folding bikes are also great for multi-modal trips, and bikes are welcome on the San Jose light rail, on CalTrain, and folding bikes are okay on BART.

I had a ride in the city today around 8 miles, the average speed was about 12.5mph(use bike computer), and felt tired after the ride, but I like the feeling

Was your 8 mile ride around the city Critical Mass? If so, I hope you had fun :). I was there on my Strida.

I've been lurking here for a while. Two weeks ago I bought a Giant Halfway off Craigslist with the intent of getting back into shape by having my bike with me wherever I go. I rode part of the Coyote Creek bike trail, starting near Blossom Hill Road down towards Morgan Hill. Total mileage was about 12 miles. The bike and the ride were great. Downtown there's a trail from downtown to Alviso that looks like fun. If you're in good shape, there are any number of fun hills to ride... the Almaden Cycle Touring Club has quite a few club rides if you're in to that sort of thing.

I presume you mean San Jose Sillicon Valley and not San Jose Costa Rica ;-)

There are several books about bike trails in that area. You can find them in bike stores (.e.g. Performance Bike). One example is "Easy Biking in Northern California" by Ann Marie Brown.

Los Gatos Creek Trail is nice and mild with good scenery, less windy than coyote creek trail, which is quite brutal going north.

There's also a nice trail that goes around Almaden Lake Park in South San Jose. They have grilling area so I stick on a portable grill of rear rack and do a barbecue/picnic right after a ride.

Please stop by say hi, we're the family will all folders.
