Hi,
Did anybody see or hear what happened regarding the accident on Central Expressway this morning?

At 8:25am today on central expressway between Matilda and Mary Ave I spotted the aftermath of the crash.

Looked like a car and bike were involved in the crash. Police cars were at the scene.

The car's windshield was shattered and bike was on the ground with a wheel missing and a damaged frame.

I hope those involved are OK.

I bet that someone tried to right-merge onto Mary (or left-merge from Mathilda) on top of the cyclist or maybe the cyclist was making a left lane change and got hit, based on my experience in the neighborhood.

I like riding Central, but really only on the off-hours when I can get the place to myself.

I rode central yesterday from Charleston to Fair Oaks during evening rush hour. That intersection at Mary is killer. Sometimes it's almost better to wait for a red light; once the cars are backed up at the stoplight you can make your way to the right w/o being run over by merging traffic.

I'll cross my fingers for whoever was hit. People drive WAY too fast on Central. Why hit 60mph when a cyclist can catch up at each intersection at 20mph?▼

Central at 7am on a Sunday: Fun times.
Central at 1am any day: Fun times.
Central at rush hour on a weekday: Ride at your own risk, particularly the freeway-ish section from Mary in Sunnyvale to Bowers in Santa Clara.

But it's true, I love keeping up with the cars from San Antonio clear to Castro or so.
