Southern California - What's the San Diego Critical Mass like?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm entertaining the idea of joining tonight's CM. I have read about all the negatives about the event so I'm all okay with kind of info. I know it can be loud and aparty like atmosphere. I know about the drama and stuff(that's to be expected when you have so many young people) but I'm only there so I could experience it at least once.
1) What I want to know is how many riders are usually present?
2) How are the police? Are they gung ho about red-lights/stop signs? I've seen some videos and I'm surprised they actually provide some sort of escort, lol. Are they a more hands off approach and simply makes sure no ones start any ****(vandalism, assault, theft, etc)?
3) How long are the rides, usually? Like, how many miles should I expect to complete the ride?
This is my first CM, so any help would be appreciated!

If you're asking those kinds of questions, it makes me wonder what are your motives for wanting to join such a ride?
They probably want to do the CM ride for the same reason I bought a $40 shot of tequila yesterday... to be able to have the experience...
Unfortunately, I have not participated in a CM ride so I cannot provide information. Play it safe and stop at the stop signs/red lights unless you are in the middle of a big group which is blowing through them.

Haha. So did I! We ate at El Agave last night. Check out the tequila menu (at the bottom of the page).

Don't be hate'n.
Tequila (http://www.tequila.net/tequila_reviews/anejos/don_julio_1942_anejo.html)
Very much a creamy or oily texture with a smooth agave nectar flavor with hints of vanilla. There was only a hint of oak and the standard smokiness of tequilas aged for longer periods, which was very surprising. It did not match very well with the Stone Pale Ale I ordered to accompany it because of the hoppy bitterness. I found myself wishing for a more malty Double Bock as the sweetness those beers present would have been a better counterpart to the tequila.
I enjoyed this tequila while relaxing on the beachfront deck at the Coronado Hotel waiting for the sun to dip below the La Jolla cliffs...
