Foo - Stinkiest meal I ever ate was last night...

So we heat up leftover garlic fried rice I cooked up the other night, add kimchi, and homemade hummus the old lady decided to put together and man, it was tasty.

An hour later, as I was reading with my lips moving and sitting there breathing through my mouth, ;) I'm stinkin' myself out. No lie, I must've eaten the equivalent of two heads of garlic. It almost, almost, outweighed the pleasure of eating it in the first place. I can still taste garlic.

So what's your most stinky/pungent meal ever consumed in one sitting?

I make a sauteed garlic/green bean dish like you get in the chinese restaurants (I see them on those buffet tables a lot).

And I'd say I chop up a head of garlic for a 1-1/2 lb of less of beans. The smell is so strong in the house that it almost burns your eyes, but it's good!

Garlic braised short ribs.

Garlic brined the ribs. Seared them in garlic oil. Deglazed and simmered with homemade garlic wine.
Served with thick sliced toast with whipped garlic and jalapeno spread.

I was a walking +4 area-effect vampire repellent for at least 3 days after that meal.

I smoked chicken last night with tons of garlic. The whole house smells like smoked meat.

Surströmming, Kiviak, nattou, kimchi...

they're all good for you.

I made a vegetable stir-fried rice this evening and used half a head of garlic. No vampires are gonna come around here. Man, the dogs started whining. They like the smell of garlic for some reason. I read somewhere that garlic and onions can be bad for dogs but my dogs always manage to get left over stir-fried vegtables. They love the stuff.

I read in a credible source that onions and garlic are bad for dogs, and the effect is cumulative. We think we killed a dog by giving her our table scraps over time. We eat a lot of onions and garlic. I think it gives them liver failure or something like that.

I had so many garlic crabs in one sitting last summer that my body (YES! my body!) smelled of garlic for about three days! :twitchy: especially my hands!? used lemon rub, water and bleach, nothing took the smell away! So I drank lemon juice and tons of water and after three days it was gone. I'll never do that again! Well......maybe, those were some good crabs! :love:

This might not have worked for you ILB, since the garlic was in your system as well as on your skin, but here's a trick. When you chop or otherwise handle garlic and your fingers are all full of garlickly garlickness, take yourself to the sink with any stainless steel utensil (like the knife you used to chop the garlic) and gently rub your offended body parts over the flat part of the utensil under running water. It really, really works. BTW, don't waste your money on one of those egg-shaped stainless steel things marketed for this purpose. A SS knife, fork, or spoon works just as well, and you'll be $10 richer.


My contribution: Home-style tofu with fried garlic, chili-bean paste, hoisin sauce, more garlic, scallions, and more garlic. Makes the wok stink for days- hence the need to wash it quickly. Now if I could just do something about the walls in the kitchen- it gets into everything :).

I love it when I'm at my parents' house for the weekend and my dad makes a super garlicky omelet then sits at church and stinks out the pew...
