Just logged on to 50+; these are the thread titles on the top of my screen:

"Get a colonoscopy"
"Do I still have a job?"
"Ankle issues"
"Prostate cancer tip"
"Stinky shoes"
"Now my other knee hurts"

I was hoping to see some new thread titles like:

"Which bike do I purchase with my excess stock market gains?"
"Which podium girl do I kiss first?"
"Need to purchase new clothes after losing all that weight..."
"Warding off paparazzi: tips for the rich and famous.."
"Just finished a century with 100 miles of tail winds."

Could I get a "threads to cheer me up" filter?

If you are not happy talking about Europa's Trainers- Then you are beyond help.

OK, some good news for a change --

I have scheduled a 25mi/40km bike ride tomorrow, followed by a two-day combination job interview and company planning meeting.

Well, just to buck the spirit of the thread

Did a very pleasant 40 km this morning, with the bride o'my dreams
Stopped for coffee and a delightful almond croissant half way through
Met my two good friends at the coffee shop who are learning and getting very good at Tandeming on the Santana I lent them, in preparation for their summer (Lands end to John o'Groats, bottom to the top of UK) ride - they were very happy with their tandeming progress
They haven't crashed my bike yet!
Cooked a Chicken Jalfrezi for an appreciative bunch of gluttons
Having a beer now, typing on Bike Forums, and listening to David Sanborne
Bike is clean, tyres pumped, chain lubed, ready for a metric C in the morning
Oh and, MY shoes don't stink (in my own opinion, and I'm not asking for any other views)

I hope this alleviates any depression on the thread

All together now, "Always look on the bright side of life, de dum, de dum, dedum dedum dedum"

Ok, as you were

I noticed that no one started a thread called

I'm Dead! Its been nice knowing ya.

With a body copy raving about how all the bikes in Heaven are lighter than CF, and how you always have a tailwind, no one wears helmets and everybody waves.

We had a wonderful so-called blizzard yesterday and last night - the press and TV made great hoopla, although I think it has been so long since we had snow they have forgotten what to do. Schools and businesses closed, etc.

So, I got in a wonderful "blizzard walk" - some nice lady drove by and stopped, thinking I was in desperate straits, and asked if I wanted a ride home!!

Tramping through about 8 inches of fresh snow, with the wind blowing against one's muffler, down coat, heavy gloves, etc., is actually FUN, not in the least depressing.

I liked your post, but "Always look on the bright side" reminds me of the Monty Python movie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHPOzQzk9Qo). :twitchy:

My son (college student in the Midwest) got caught by your blizzard in Colorado - was headed to Moab, Utah for spring break. Last heard from holed up in Colorado Springs....

"Which bike do I purchase with my excess stock market gains?" - sorry, they've all been spent when I followed this advice "Get a colonoscopy"

"Which podium girl do I kiss first?" - can't get close enough because of my "Stinky shoes"

"Need to purchase new clothes after losing all that weight..." largely due to "Prostate cancer tip"

"Warding off paparazzi: tips for the rich and famous.." - sadly none of the tips work because "Now my other knee hurts"

"Just finished a century with 100 miles of tail winds." and now I have to ask myself "Do I still have a job?"

And I'll finish by noting that he complained about 6 threads but could only come up with 5 alternatives. I think the grumps win :D

It hit much harder on the southern eastern Colorado plains!

I'm looking at getting some new 36 jeans, down from 44 last March. I probably won't hit my hoped-for 900 miles this month, due to heavy sleet and snow today, winds 25-40, and more of same tomorrow, but I'm already a 723, so 800 looks solid. I ride a 35 pound clunker. Slow and long is good!

Hey, come on, it's a 50+ forum! A crank is not just a bicycle part. We spin that other crank and live to complain about it.

Hey,

I was the original poster for the Ankle Issues thread. Just looking for some info. Still riding, still swimming, still coaching a great U-14 girls soccer team that is kicking butt. Life's good. Just can't do tri's and my ankle hurts most of the time. But that's a long ways from doom and dispair.

See you on the road once this snow's gone.

I'll open on a positive note. I have a secure spiritual life, am gainfully employed, have a functional family, a warm, dry place to live, and a nice bike. However, for the last couple of weeks, I've been contending with Spring-time upper respiratory krud, sleep deprivation, continuing foul weather, been off the bike for almost two weeks, and today, March 28, it snowed in Arkansas. Does the Sun still exist? What gives?! I think DnvrFox or Bombadil sent all of this nasty weather. Somebody's gonna pay.

Depressing? Scraped most of 2-3" of ice followed by 4-6" of snow off the drive today instead of a planned century. Will be Wed. I'm betting before the roads are clear enough to ride again. This is too late in the year for this kind of weather in Wichita!

Cheerful? At least we didn't get the 28" that fell a bit west of here, nor the 10-15" they thought we'd get here. Got the same moisture, just more sleet and freezing rain along with the snow.

I have to count my blessings. It snowed in Arkansas, but here in Little Rock, it didn't get quite cold enough, and not much rain today during daylight hours. But I took a long nap anyway.

I had a good trip to the grocery store, found a nice steak at a good price, and a great trip to the library where I read through all the science magazines. I picked up a good bit of new info on subjects like the theory that the universe is irregular and has voids and clumps, and about new laser projectors the size of an iPhone that will give you a good computer display for under $400.00.

Tonight I observed Earth Hour by turning off my lights taking a walk in the nearby hills. Uphills keep you warm. :D

Contemplating one of these on the bike ride today.

No PIE at the cafe but low cholesterol- and it must be healthy as it has fruit on it.

1) I am almost over my cold.
2) I had fish tacos with mango salsa for supper.
3) I had a wreck on my bike trainer on Friday during the snowstorm, but I'm okay.
4) The Friday snowstorm zapped my irises, but my veggie starts were snug inside the cold frame and did fine.
5) I am watching cycling on TV.

I dunno. Life seems pretty good to me. ;-)

Just realised- Happy 50th and Just wait 12 years to catch me up.

I just turned 50 on the 1st and shortly after told my wife how funny some of the posts were in the 50+ forum. I guess I'm just fortunate to be in great health, thank God, and have a wife that makes me walk 5+ miles almost every evening, even after I’ve had a long ride from work. We eat no fried foods, don't drink liquor and go through gallons of water like....hhhmmmm water.

The only real injury I can recall I got by being stupid and inline skating down a steep hill late at night; I fell and ripped my MCL. A year later I was back out inline skating again; no more dark late night hills though. God willing I’ll stay healthy and keep inline skating and riding my bike like my late grandfather who rode his bike into his 80s.
