What do you guys think? I just did a 15 min session from a DVD that someone sent to me. ;) I felt like a dork while I was doing it, but I'm feeling surprisingly relaxed right now. I feel stretched out and limber. Haven't felt that way in a long time.

You're supposed to sit in a class with nine cougars when you do yoga.
I'd feel self conscious, but not like a dork.

Man, I love Yoga. Great for building strength, alleviating stress, and increasing flexibility.

Yoga is good. Its even better when done in a class with a qualified instructor, and even better when there are lots of hot women in the class.

All of the above is true. In my case, I picked the class that had the best instructor. The fact that she has a calm, soothing, sensual voice didn't hurt either!
However, I did enjoy the one session when a different instructor told the class to "become as erect as possible". I took a LOT of self-restraint not to say something that might have gotten me kicked out of class! :innocent:

And on a related note, my peripheral vision has improved to the point where I can see directly behind my own head!

This is for the benefit of all of the other students. There is far too much bending and stretching in Yoga for men to wear shorts. I don't want your goods falling out 12 inches from me when you're doing a pose.
Some things are best left to the imagination.

I'm pretty sure most people can kick my ass. I had to bend over at the hips as far as possible. The lady in the video used the brick to put her hands on. I had to stack the bricks. :p

The shorts I wear are just above the knees. If the goods were falling out all the way down there, I'd be in a totally different line of work. :twitchy:

Time and practice, and training, and you too can do this. ;) It's hilarious, seeing the instructors face when you have a new one (especially a 19 yr old college student, female), when an older baggy skinned greybeard like me pulls it off, too. ;)

It's better to do it in a class, but my girlfriend swears by her home kit.
Regardless, it's one of the best exercises out there for relaxation, both physical and mental. Breathing exercises can make significant changes in one's life.
/\ what Crassic said. Try it in the morning UA, it will change your day.
I'm still a yoga newb but when I do it regularly while riding a lot I can def. get more aero on the bike. Just plain feel better physically too.
I just started going to a class, it does get you more than doing it home alone, but no harm in doing that to get your feet wet.

Yoga is good stuff. I took a yoga class that just about killed me, but it went for 3 hours once a week. I'd prefer 1 hour 3 times a week. I was totally relaxed after I did it for just an hour.
Also, when I was in PT for my knees, the PT's intoduced several exercises that were yoga-based. Interestingly, there was only one guy who could demonstrate, and he was a yoga regular. I really liked the way his exercises built "core stability." It actualy helped my bicycle riding.

i've been dragged screaming and kicking to a yoga class and an aerobics class by a female friend just because she didn't want to go by herself. Both times I was the only one in the class with plums. After the aerobics, the instructor came to me and said how nice it was to see a man in the class for once and how brave i was. i never went back, but only because i couldn't keep up, not because everyone thought i was either a perv or a flamer. it was hard work.
maybe it's because I always feel like a dork? :p I dunno, I'm still feeling pretty good.
I don't think you are... u look like a cool normal dude 2 me... but then again, I am a dork so my opinion might actually confirm yours.

But even Aquaman doesn't ride the fish out onto the beach to do yoga on their backs on land.

I <3 yoga almost as much as I <3 riding my bike. The bendy part comes with time & practice. You'll get there.

Its always awkward the first few times!
What are you wanting out of a workout? I have a hard time getting into the right mindset for yoga some days, but when I do, its a great exercise for my mind, as well.
I prefer pilates, primarily because of the core workout it achieves, and that it is less of a focus on the mental discipline. It still requires intense focus and incorporates the breathing techniques, but its less of the spiritual side. The gym I attended in MN had a great Yoga/Pilates fusion class.
That said, I'd recommend looking into pilates, as well.
Both disciplines will help you get to know responses in your body you never knew you had- and that is pretty amazing.

Why? I can't wear long pants when I work out. That's like wearing socks with toes, it just doesn't feel right.
Anyway, if they laugh I don't give the proverbial rat's ass cause I've got better balance and can hold the backbridge longer than any of them.

Pickle surprise!
Indeed. My intent was that men should keep their parts covered and contained so that when they were doing certain poses, those around them did not get an unwanted view of the goods.
